Clinical Waste

If you hold or produce clinical waste, you have a legal duty of care that it safely managed. Failing to do so can leave you open to serious penalties, therefore it is imperative that you have the correct systems in place for the disposal of all different types of clinical waste.

We can supply you with specific bins and bags which differ depending on the type of clinical waste in which you hold and produce. Different coloured bins and bags illustrate the specific type of waste that can be discarded into that bin.

Yellow – Infectious clinical waste – Bodily fluids, materials contaminated with bodily fluids and medicines.

Orange – Infectious clinical waste – Used PPE, Plasters, bandages and dressings.

Red – Non-infectious Anatomical waste – Human and Animal Body parts and Organs.

Yellow and Black Tiger stripe – Non-Infectious, offensive waste produced from human and animal hygiene – Nappies, and incontinence waste.

Blue – Medicinal non-hazardous waste – Denatured drug, unused non-cytostatic or cytostatic medicines.

Purple – Cytotoxic and Cytostatic waste – Materials contaminated with cytotoxic and cytostatic drugs.

White – Dental waste: Amalgam and Gypsum – Teeth with fillings, unused amalgam, packaging and capsules containing Amalgam residue.
